Glenn Orletsky Obituary

Glenn E. Orletsky, 84, passed away peacefully at his Olney, Md., home surrounded by family on Dec. 29, 2025.

Glenn was born on June 25, 1941, in Washington, D.C., to George and Irma (Edwards) Orletsky. He grew up in Silver Spring, Md., and attended Blair High School. He continued his education at the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business. His friendly and social demeanor aided the enjoyment of his career in national product sales. He managed accounts at several brand companies, most notably for the Coty cosmetics division of Pfizer, where he was national account manager of the year in 1984. Other brands and companies included J.H. Filbert in Baltimore, Hellman’s foods, and the Prince Matchabelli cosmetics and fragrance division of Cheeseborough-Pond’s.

Glenn was a proud Montgomery County resident, who cherished his Silver Spring community and his Olney Mill neighborhood, where he raised his family and was an active resident for nearly 55 years.

Glenn had a lifelong love of sports, including softball, basketball, and golf. He participated in Montgomery County softball leagues for more than 50 years. In his retirement years he found a home and friends with the Montgomery County Senior Sports Association and participated in the Senior Olympics. When hip replacements sidelined his playing, he enjoyed umpiring for the MCSSA and Social Sports of Bethesda.

Glenn also was an avid rail enthusiast and was a 55-year active member of the National Railway Historical Society, where he dedicated most of his time to helping the Baltimore chapter. Through this involvement he spent time traveling the country and rode many historic and iconic locomotives and routes. In later years he could be found every Wednesday at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum helping with its collections.

As a grandparent in Olney, many knew Glenn as their child’s ride to sports and other activities alongside his grandchildren. He could be seen cheering and socializing on the sidelines and in the audience at every event.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha (Koenig); daughters Heather Milke (Christopher), Holly Erdely (Michael); and grandchildren Christopher James “C.J.” Milke and Megan Milke. He is also survived by his brother Brian (Lyn), niece Katherine, and nephew Nicholas.

A celebration of life will be held 1 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 18 at The Manor at Silo Falls, 19501 Georgia Ave, Brookeville, MD 20833.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be sent to the National Railway Historical Society, https://nrhs.com/giving/
