It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Geraldine Theresa King (Kane), who passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 82 in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was surrounded by loved ones as she took her final journey after bravely fighting cancer.
Known affectionately as Geri or Gebby to her family, she was born on May 2, 1942, in Nyack, New York, to Gerald and Anne Kane. She grew up in New Jersey alongside her three siblings, Paul, Peggy, and Anne. She attended Bergenfield High School and later pursued higher education at Montclair State University.
Geri had a successful career as an accountant, but her true passions lay beyond her profession. She was an avid gardener and a dedicated breeder and exhibitor of award-winning Norwegian Elkhound dogs. Together with her husband, John, she also enjoyed crafting award-winning wines, a passion they shared for many years. She loved visiting the Jersey Shore, and watching our Washington Commanders and Capitals.
Geri will be remembered most for her strength, unwavering love for her family, and deep sense of devotion. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Paul Kane and Margaret “Peggy” Joyce, and is survived by her loving husband, John; her children, JoAnne (Jim) and Stephen (Kelly); her cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Shana, and Devian; her sister, Anne Kane-Lavin; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
"Though we grieve, the flowers return, reminding us that love and beauty are never lost." — Unknown
