George J. Mantzouranis was called home to the Lord on September 9, 2026.
Born on March 8, 1966, in Washington, D.C., George was the beloved son of the late John G. Mantzouranis and is survived by his loving mother, Lefki Mantzouranis. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Athanasia Mantzouranis, his nephew, Demetrios, his cherished wife, Michele, and his stepchildren, Jennifer, Andrew, and Nicole. George was a proud grandfather to Aiden, Owen, and Grayson. He was also blessed with a large and loving extended family, including 62 first and second cousins, one surviving uncle, Joseph, and his faithful companion, Buddy.
George graduated from Sherwood High School in 1984 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Business Management from the University of Maryland in 1989. He later obtained several Network Engineering certifications and built an accomplished career spanning technology, business, and retail leadership.
In addition to these achievements, George dedicated an extraordinary 45 years of service to Giant Food. Throughout his career, he was known for his unwavering work ethic, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
George had a passion for travel and cherished opportunities to connect with his Greek heritage during childhood summers. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, and kiteboarding.
Above all, George treasured his family, friends, colleagues, and community. A lifelong resident and proud member of the Olney, Maryland community, he was affectionately known by many as “The Mayor of Olney.”
While he is no longer with us in body, George’s legacy lives on through the family he loved, the community he served, the traditions he proudly carried forward, and the countless lives he touched.
