Gary Lee Weathersbee, 69, passed away on May 18, 2026.
Born on February 11, 1957, Gary built a life defined by hard work, kindness, and dedication to his family, friends, and community. He spent much of his career working as an electrician and worked in building automation for approximately 24 years, where he applied his skill, knowledge, and strong work ethic throughout his career.
Gary was a man who found joy in caring for others and appreciating the simple things in life. He loved baking, especially making cookies, and enjoyed cooking meals for family and friends. He was deeply connected to his church community and Bible study group and valued the friendships and faith he found there. Gary also loved bluegrass music and enjoyed visiting Luckett’s.
He had a special appreciation for nature and wildlife. He spent many peaceful hours bird watching from his backyard, feeding the animals that visited, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. His family fondly remembers the year wild turkeys regularly wandered through the yard, as well as the binoculars that always remained nearby in the kitchen drawer.
Gary is survived by his children, Keith Weathersbee (Amie Jackson) and their children, Ella and Nora; Matthew Weathersbee; and Michelle Weathersbee; his sister, Marla Bowser; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Weathersbee and Margaret Weathersbee, and his brother, Frankie Weathersbee.
Family and close friends are asked to line up and proceed into the cemetery at 12:50 PM for a graveside service to be held on May 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park. A remembrance gathering where all are welcome will follow at approximately 2:30 PM at Church of Christ at Manor Woods, located at 5300 Norbeck Road, Rockville, Maryland 20853.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gary’s memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (www.vfw.org/donate) or the National Wildlife Federation (https://support.nwf.org/page/58590/donate/1)
Gary will be remembered for his caring heart, his generosity toward others, and the quiet ways he made people feel welcomed, cared for, and at home.
