Gabriel Joseph Moschetti

Gabriel Joseph Moschetti, age 94, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Gabriel proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Radio Technician during the Korean War. After his military service, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and pursued graduate studies at Villanova University, Drexel Institute of Technology, and George Washington University.

Gabriel dedicated his professional life to research and development in electrical engineering, with a career that focused on innovations for various military departments. He played a pivotal role in the advancement of voice recognition technology, culminating in the development of the first commercially produced voice recognition system. His leadership extended to supervising the successful implementation of voice data entry applications at several Fortune 500 companies.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene Dalton Moschetti. Gabriel is survived by his daughters Adele Marie Moschetti, Gina Irene Shrader (Ty), and Greta Moschetti Pirnia (Hashi); his grandchildren Nicholas Gabriel Coletta (Alexa), John Dalton Moschetti, Tyler Shrader, and Stephanie Ridgely; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Gabriel will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his deep love for his family, and his enduring legacy in technology and service to his country.

Visitation will begin at 11am on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Rd, Rockville, MD 20853; where the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30am.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
