Florentia Chakalakis

Florentia Chakalakis, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 26, 2020.  Born on November 3, 1930 in Piraeus, Greece to the late Chris and Smarro Mavromatis. She was the beloved wife to the late Pete Chakalakis, married for 41 years. Mother of the late daughters Nitsa and Anna who perished in a plane crash on September 8, 1974.  She is survived by her two sons Kosta (Patty) and Chris (Debbie). Beloved grandmother of Nicole, Jenianna, Pete, Evania, Carisa, and Nickolas.  She was the beloved sister of her late brothers Stratos and Manoli Mavromatis. Her infectious smile and laugh will be greatly missed by her family and friends alike.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 , 11:00AM at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Washington, D.C., 701 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, Maryland. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions currently in place in Montgomery County, Maryland, attendance will be strictly limited to 50 people only. Interment will immediately follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland.
