Fay C. Ryan, age 98, of Wheaton, MD, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025. She was born April 30, 1926, in Johnsonburg, PA, daughter of the late Francis and Mariannina Condina.
After her graduation from Johnsonburg High School, she relocated to Washington D.C. to support the WWII effort. Fay worked for the government and was honored to be an usher at the inauguration of President Truman. She married Jack Ryan on April 15, 1950, and left the Treasury Department to raise her children.
Later in life, she worked as an office manager for her brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Ryan, and at the National Institute of Health. She received several awards and recognitions for her dedicated work. She was a long time parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Parish and was active in Sodality and Altar Guild.
Fay is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Ryan; by siblings, Pat Nocito, Mary Maletto, Rose Williams, Dane Condino, Ann Ross, Colonel Ernest Condina, and Mary Davies; and by great-granddaughter Juliet Anderson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, John Ryan (Jen), Pat Ryan (Jan), Bill Ryan (Lorrie), Betty Anderson (Bill), Tom Ryan (Debbie), Joe Ryan (Beth), and Frank Ryan (Erin) and 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Fay was a light to all who knew her. Her life was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Those who knew Fay will remember her for her special way of spreading love and kindness to everyone she encountered.
In recent years, she resided at Marian Assisted Living in Brookeville, MD. She died at Montgomery Hospice Casey House, where she received loving and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10-11 am at Holy Redeemer Church, 9701 Summit Avenue, Kensington, MD. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am. Interment will be private on Monday, March 3, 2025.
