Efrosini “Frosso” Sardelis Malavakis, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, sister, daughter, and author, fell asleep in the lord, peacefully on November 14th, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments.
Born on July 1, 1957, to Emmanuel and Anna Sardelis, Frosso grew up in Kensington, Maryland, alongside her younger brother, Philip. She graduated from Walter Johnson High School while working at the family restaurant, where she learned the value of hard work and hospitality. Frosso later attended Marymount University, where she nurtured a love for learning that she carried with her throughout her life.
Frosso’s warmth and joy were infectious. She had a way of making everyone she met feel like family. Whether she was visiting Greece to reconnect with relatives or hosting a gathering at home, her spirit and generosity were always at the heart of every moment.
A gifted cook and baker, Frosso was known for her delicious koulourakia and galaktoboureko, and she loved sharing her recipes with family and friends. Her culinary passion extended to her writing, and she published two books, with plans to release a cookbook filled with her favorite family recipes.
Her deep faith in the Greek Orthodox tradition was central to her life, and she generously shared her beliefs with those around her. Frosso’s kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Frosso’s 40-year marriage to the love of her life, George Malavakis, was the cornerstone of her life. Together, they created a family full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She is survived by her beloved husband, George, her mother, Anna Sardelis, her brother, Philip Sardelis, her two daughters, Anna Gibson and Alexandra Malavakis, and her four grandchildren, George, Stephanos, Jaylin, and William. She is also survived by her adopted daughter, Shelly Camp, and Shelly’s children, Taylor and Lyric, as well as eight nieces and nephews: Alexander, Christina, JC, Mykiah, Nicolas, Anna, Manoli, and Leilani.
