Don was born on December 21, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA. to Wilfred and Helen (Grady) Auen. After graduation he went on to proudly serve in The U.S Army from 1954-1956. Don then met the love of his life, Norma Jean, in 1959. They later wed and spent 45 years of marital bliss and together they had 5 children. Don graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in electrical engineering.
Don was an avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports (GO STEELERS!!!) Don loved spending time with his family and especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Don could fix anything because as he always said, "I have more patience than brains." Don made friends everywhere he went and was loved by all who knew him.
Those left to honor his memory are his children: Gregory (Mary) Auen, Jeffrey (Eileen) Auen, Kathleen (Michael) White, Christopher (Wendy) Auen and Douglas Auen; his grandchildren, Nicklaus, Jack, Nick, Dale, Adam, Norma, Logan, Jenna, Cormac, Kevin, Madeline and Aine; great-grandchildren, Kehnley, Sutton and Branson; his brother, Dick (Helen) Auen and his sister, Janet Auen.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks must be worn in church and social distancing observed. The cemetery restriction on number of attendants makes it necessary to keep the interment with military honors private.
