Charles Joseph Junghans of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born in Sandy Spring, Maryland on February 3, 1936, to the late James P. Junghans and Mary C. Junghans. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Suzanne of 63 years, and siblings, James, Frank, and Rosemary. Survived by his 2 sons, Blake and Kyle (Gina), grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, and Bridget and his sister, Theresa Samuels.
Charles graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1955. After High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force, before beginning a 30+ year career in the U.S. Postal Service. He co-owned a painting business with his brother-in-law, Tom Crowell. Over the years, he invested in Real Estate. He also volunteered, at the Wheaton Boys Club, as coach for his sons’ baseball, basketball, and football teams. He enjoyed country music and country dancing with his wife and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Visitation will be held at the Shrine of Saint Jude Catholic Church, Rockville, MD, on Tuesday, December 26th at 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
