Athanasios Panagiotis Mantzouranis fell asleep in the Lord, peacefully and surrounded by love, on October 12, 2025.
Athanasios was born to Panagiotis Nikolaos Mantzouranis and Panagiota Panopoulos in Vourvoura, Arcadias, Greece.
Athanasios is the beloved husband of Alexandra (Aleka) Mantzouranis. Loving father of Penny (Lefteri) Mylonas, Peter (Vicki) Mantzouranis, and Voula (John) Gheen. Adored Papouli to Christo, Thano, Alexandra, Tori, Jorge, Alex, Thanasi, Athanasia, Alexa, and Angelina. Great-grandfather to 5, and loving cousin and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Nikolaos 2006, Vassilios 2015, and Ioannis 2016, and he is survived by two more brothers, Evagellos (Ourania) and Konstantinos (Haroula).
Thanasi loved his family, his church, and his country. Family was everything to Thanasi. He spent every moment possible with his children and grandchildren. He was a spiritual man, a God-fearing man, and you would find him attending church every Sunday, or volunteering in his community. He enjoyed helping others and sharing all he could with his family back in Vourvoura, never forgetting his roots. He was a man of honor and integrity, a proud Greek who immigrated and served his new country as an American in the US Army.
Thanasi always treated everyone like family, with hugs and smiles, and always a joke to make sure you knew you were always welcome around him. Thanasi never left the house without ‘candy’ in his pocket to share with anyone who needed it, “Just in case to make them smile.”
