Aspasia “Sia” Karagiannis fell asleep in the Lord, peacefully and surrounded with love, on November 4, 2025.
Sia is the beloved and devoted wife of Ioannis “John” Karagiannis, with whom she shared 51 blessed years of marriage—a partnership rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She was a loving and dedicated mother to Penny (Paul) Lappas, always encouraging, always supporting, and always present. She embraced her greatest joy in life—being “Yiayia”—to Maria Lappas and Dimitri (Dimitra) Lappas, who were the shining lights of her world. Nothing brought Sia more happiness than watching her grandchildren grow; every accomplishment, every milestone, and every visit filled her heart with immeasurable pride.
Sia was born in the beautiful village of Georgitsi in Sparta, Greece, to Christos and Eleni Gouzoulis. Her mother passed away when Sia was only three years old, a profound loss she carried quietly throughout her life. She was lovingly raised by the late Angela Gouzoulis, who embraced her with the tenderness, devotion, and nurturing love of a mother.
She is the adored sister of Nick Gouzoulis (Marty) and Demetra Kontoulis (the late Takis). Their bond was one of love, loyalty, and shared history—rooted in family and strengthened through every joy and challenge. Together they built a lifetime of memories steeped in tradition, laughter, and unwavering support.
To her nieces and nephews, she was “Thea Sia”—the aunt who showed up without being asked, who offered guidance, unconditional love, and endless hospitality. Her presence made every gathering warmer and every celebration brighter.
Sia touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her. With a gentle spirit, an infectious smile, and unwavering kindness, she had the rare gift of making every person feel seen and valued. Her home was known for its open doors and full table—no one ever left without feeling loved, encouraged, and nourished both physically and spiritually. She lived her faith quietly but powerfully, leading by example through compassion, humility, and generosity.
Whether through a warm embrace, thoughtful advice, or her calming presence, Sia lifted others up. She listened without judgment, gave without hesitation, and loved without limits. Her legacy is one of devotion— to her faith, to her family, and to every person she encountered. May her memory be truly eternal.
