Thomas Joseph Dugan III passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Beloved husband of Mary Collins Dugan; father of Thomas Joseph Dugan IV (Katherine) of Woodbridge, VA, Patrick Michael Dugan (Marissa) of Westford, MA, Teresa Dugan Igono (David) of Morgantown, WV and Robert Sean Dugan (Morgan) of Morgantown, WV. Grandfather of Thomas Joseph Dugan V, Keller John Dugan, Finn Peter Dugan, Cole Perry Dugan, Lucas Abreu Dugan, Reese Otumale Igono, Quinn Acharu Igono and a baby boy expected in January; brother of John Roger Dugan  and Mary Ann (Dugan) Zagar.

The oldest son of Thomas Joseph Dugan, Jr., M.D. and Mary McDevitt Dugan, Tom attended grade school at St. Michael's and Our Lady of Lourdes, and graduated from St. John's College High School. After graduating from Mount St. Mary's College, Tom enlisted in the Maryland National Guard. He received his Masters degree in American Studies from the University of Maryland.

Tom taught English and Adaptive Physical Education in Montgomery County High Schools for 35 years at Einstein, Damascus, Gaithersburg, Richard Montgomery, Springbrook and Walt Whitman High Schools. He enjoyed coaching basketball at Damascus and Richard Montgomery.

Tom enjoyed reading, swimming, golfing, coaching, teaching, and learning. His most favorite part of life, however, was being a husband, father, and grandfather to his family.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15663 Norbeck Boulevard, Silver Spring, Maryland on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 10:00 until 11:00 am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
