Michael Joseph Roberts

Michael Joseph Roberts, 60, of Germantown, MD, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2019, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD, surrounded by his brothers and sisters. Michael was born in Washington, DC, on September 17, 1958. 

After studying for almost 17 years, Michael received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland University College. Most recently, Michael worked at the Montgomery County Public Library. He remained affiliated with the Silver Spring Fire Department since 1978. Michael was an active parishioner at Mother Seton Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight ("The Patriotic Degree") with Knights of Columbus Council #11024. Michael was a regular blood donor through the American Red Cross. 

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James Alwin Roberts and Mary Adele Herzog Roberts, and his beloved grandparents and aunts and uncles. He is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Michael) Goth of Medfield, MA; William (Ellen) Roberts of Burtonsville, MD; Nancy (William) Hise of Lewes, DE; Margaret (Kevin) Cooke of Ellicott City, MD; Francis Roberts of Arlington, VA; and Mary Elizabeth Roberts of Laurel, MD; 10 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. 

On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 11am, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Lee Fangmeyer at Mother Seton Catholic Church, 19951 Father Hurley Boulevard, Germantown, MD. Visitation begins at 10am. Reception to follow in the Parish Center. Following the reception, interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
