José Luis Chavez of Gaithersburg, MD went to God on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Raised in Miraflores, Perú, he is the son of the late Antenor and Mercedes Chavez.

He graduated from the National University of Callao in Peru and the University of Maryland with degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He was a senior mechanical engineering consultant that specialized in the design of HVAC systems for buildings, with a focus on energy modeling for projects that achieved LEED certification. 

Surviving is his beloved wife, Nimia Chavez; his daughter, Vanessa Martinez (David); his grandchildren, Sophia and Jacob Martinez; his siblings, Lucy Perez (Neptali), Nora Chavez and the late Ricardo Chavez (Irma); and many loving aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews in Peru and the DC area.

Visitation will be at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 201 S Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm with Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
