Janice passed away peacefully on January 25, 2019 just shy of her 98th birthday. Jan was born in Shenandoah, Virginia and moved to Washington, DC with her mother and sister in 1930. She graduated from Eastern High School before starting work at Acacia Mutual Life Insurance Co. Jan’s next job took her to Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) where she earned a number of promotions over her 10 years of service. Jan married the love of her life, Joseph Luber in 1944. After living 20 years in Washington, they moved to the Maryland suburbs where they raised their 2 sons.
Jan, a fabulous hostess and cook, loved entertaining her friends and family. She was a member of Oakdale Emory Methodist Church, Manor Country Club and a founding member of JHU/APL Women’s Club.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her beloved sister Gwen. Jan is survived by sons, John and Kurt, daughter-in-law Karen, grandchildren Clarissa and Annalise and two great grandchildren. Jan will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, October 27th at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Church, 3425 Emory Church Road, Olney, MD. An additional service will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 29th at 2:00 PM.
