Andy was born December 10, 1953, in Washington, D.C. He attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, St. John’s College High School (1971), and The American University (1975). After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, he found that his true calling was in public service. Therefore, he joined the Secret Service and later became an officer for the Montgomery County Police Department where he served for thirty-four years.
Andy was a kind soul, a man who understood the value and blessing of every day, a fearless leader, a patient listener, a friend to all, a beacon of hope for many, a spiritual guide in his Catholic faith, a loving father to five, and devoted husband. The imprint Andy left on the lives of everyone he crossed paths with is truly immeasurable. It's rare to meet someone like Andy. Those of you who were lucky enough to have met him know this to be true. Fellow officers acknowledged his uncanny way to always take charge of a situation with humor and grace, qualities that all admired. Andy always remained true to himself modeling for fellow officers that it was okay to be a cop, to be tough, to handle the things that officers handle while also being a gentle, kind soul who loves Christ and family most of all.
Our family experienced a miracle when Andy outlived any of the doctors' expectations and graced us with so much more cherished time than we thought possible. Andy's legacy continues to be far-reaching.
