Anthony Kane Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Kane of Kensington, MD on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the age of 72.  Born and raised on Long Island, NY, he was the son of William (Ed) and Marie (Ethel) Kane.  He graduated from Notre Dame grammar school in New Hyde Park, NY and St. Mary’s Boys High School in Manhasset, NY.  He earned his BS in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his MS from Northwestern University and his DBA degree from George Washington University.  He dedicated his career to public service in the field of Transportation retiring from the Federal Highway Administration as the Executive Director.  He continued his career as the Director of Engineering and Technical Services at AASHTO.

Tony was known for his generous spirit and zest for life. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed life to the fullest.  He had an inquisitive nature, loved food and travel.  His greatest joy was in making others happy.  His smile was infectious and his blue eyes sparkled constantly.   He is greatly missed already but his legacy keeps him with us.  His was a life well lived.

Tony is survived by his wife, Jackie, and his children, Megan and Sean, and his grandchild, Matthew.  He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Howland (John) and Patricia Dews (Joe).  Visitation will be at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 9715 Summit Avenue Kensington, MD on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 5-8 PM where Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 22 at 10:30 AM. Interment private.
