Sofia Cardenas Saway passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.  Sofia was born in Cali, Colombia. She and her family moved to Maryland in 1976. Sofia was the guardian and spiritual soul of her family and has left an irreparable void in their hearts and lives. Sofia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gonzalo Saway; her son Dr. William Saway (wife Cecilia Moreno Saway), her daughter Mireya Saway Velasquez (husband Roger Velasquez) and predeceased by her son the late Rick Gonzalo Saway; her grandchildren Rick Saway, Brian Saway, Sofia Velasquez and Olivia Velasquez; her brother Lisamaco Cardenas and sisters Blanca Cardenas Ospina and Stella Cardenas. 

Visitation will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 2900 Olney-Sandy Spring Road, Olney MD on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon with Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon. Interment private. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, or to the Brooke Grove Foundation, 18100 Slade School Road, Sandy Spring, MD 20860.

Sofia Cardenas Saway falleció el martes 11 de abril del 2017. Sofia nació en Cali, Colombia y se radico con su familia en Maryland en el 1976. Sofia era la guardián y alma spiritual de su familia y a dejado un vacío irreparable en sus corazones y vidas. Sofia se une a su difunto hijo Rick Gonzalo Saway y la sobreviven su esposo Gonzalo Saway con quien compartió 56 hermosos años de matrimonio, su hijo el Dr. William Saway (su esposa Cecilia Moreno Saway), su hija Mireya Saway Velasquez (su esposo Roger Velasquez), sus nietos y nietas Rick Saway, Brian Saway, Sofia Velasquez y Olivia Velasquez, su hermano Lisimaco Cardenas y sus hermanas Blanca Cárdenas Ospina y Stella Cárdenas.

El velorio y misa de funeral se llevará a cabo el jueves 20 de abril en la iglesia St Peter's Church 2900 Olney-Sandy Spring Road Olney, MD 20832 empezando con el velorio a las 11 am y la misa de funeral a las 12 del mediodía. El entierro será privado.
