Beloved wife of the late Buell "Herky" Herchenroeder; mother of Nancy L. Ehringer (Hap), Stephen L. Herchenroeder, John A. Herchenroeder, Patricia H. Biondo (Al), W. Joseph Herchenroeder and Brian E. Herchenroeder (Cathy). Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years (Herky), parents (John and Alice Connelly), and three sibilings (John Connelly, William Connelly, and Frances Pittle).  Jewel (Julie) Herchenroeder was born and raised in Washington, D.C.  She met her husband at the Washington Navy Yard where he was briefly stationed during WWII.  They married, settled in the Maryland suburbs and raised six children.  Her life was devoted to caring for her family.  She set a strong example for her children. Her words of wisdom and treatment of people provided a strong foundation for her children’s growth into adulthood.  When the children were grown, she enjoyed time with her husband in their Ocean City home.  There she did needlework, quilting and worked at Candy Kitchen.  She immensely enjoyed fishing by her husband’s side along with their close band of friends.  She touched the lives of many people during her life, and will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.  

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15663 Norbeck Boulevard, Silver Spring, Maryland on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 10:00 until 11:00 am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
