Jewel (Julie) Herchenroeder was born and raised in Washington, D.C. She met her husband at the Washington Navy Yard where he was briefly stationed during WWII. They married, settled in the Maryland suburbs and raised six children. Her life was devoted to caring for her family. She set a strong example for her children. Her words of wisdom and treatment of people provided a strong foundation for her children’s growth into adulthood.
