March 30 1956 - January 2, 2017

Gloria Saba of Silver Spring, Maryland died January 2, 2017. Beloved Mother of Mary Saba, Georgette Mund (Jeffrey) and Miguel  Saba, Jr. (Chantal); Grandmother of Alex Saba, Marco Saba, Béya Mund, Catarina Saba, and Elyana Mund. 

Visitation will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 2900 Olney Sandy Spring Rd, Olney, MD on Monday January 9, 2017 from 10:30 until 11:00 am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A reception will be held at The Inn at Brookeville Farms, 19501 Georgia Avenue, Brookeville, Maryland at 1:30 pm. 

Gloria Saba was born in Bolivia, South America in 1956 and was one of 5 children. She moved to the United States in 1984 with her two girls chasing the American dream and following her husband who had come the year before. She then had a son, Miguel Jr, while living in Virginia. Upon arriving in the United States, Gloria taught herself English and raised three young children while volunteering at their school.  She spent her career in the Prince Georges County School System; Woodridge Elementary to Northwestern High School lead her way.  She worked with children and young adults with disabilities and enjoyed every minute.  Her battle with cancer started in 2011 after which she became a cancer survivor and had the support of many family and friends along her journey.  Unfortunately, her cancer then returned in 2015. With the sudden loss of her husband Miguel Saba Sr on January 13, 2016, she battled cancer and brought her family even closer together. 
Gloria was truly a remarkable woman, considered by all who knew her as a smiling face you could count on to make you smile.  She loved those around her unconditionally and everyone she met because family.  She will absolutely be missed by many.
