Born at Columbia Hospital in Washington DC. Attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School in Bethesda MD, Arch Bishop Carroll High School in Washington DC and Georgetown University in Washington DC.  Gerry was a lifelong antique car enthusiast and a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Porsche Club of America and the Early Ford V8 Club.  He was also a volunteer and member of the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad.  He was a  commercial real estate professional in Washington DC for over 40 years, working for various companies included the National Association of Realtors.  He leaves behind his wife of 52 years Barbara Ann McHugh (nee Long), loving children Patrick McHugh (Lori), Kathleen Maloney (John) and Brendan McHugh, his brothers Martin McHugh, Dennis McHugh and his sister Patricia O’Hara. He was known as "Old Daddy" to his three granddaughters Tori McHugh, Aileen Maloney and Patricia Maloney who will miss him greatly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 5 from 10-11 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville Maryland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Timothy at 11:00 am followed by a reception in the Parish Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Gerry’s name to the University of Maryland School of Medicine Division of Transplantation: Office of Development, 31 S. Greene Street 3rd Floor, Baltimore MD 21201.
